Flow

Project Overview

MGM Cotai is a large-scale architectural installation featuring an array of unique LED screens (25 separate LED screens, 4-8K each) located in a public space in Macau, China.

Obscura designed the immersive content program to showcase emerging artists and display the extraordinary landscapes of China and other cinematic material in addition to generative interactive work.

For one piece entitled “Flow,” presented as an original artwork, we created a miniature practical build of the onsite LED screen arrays using aquarium-style plexiglass. The tanks were designed for water and ink simulations which we shot at a variety of speeds in a spectrum of colors. The resulting content conveyed a continuous mesmerizing in-the-round experience, with the fluids connecting screen to screen and unifying the atrium display.

Obscura designed the media, software, and content program for the installation, including 260 minutes of custom content.
